Mackenzie ‘Kenzi’ Hughes, CPA grew up in Black River Falls, WI and received her bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance from UW-Green Bay. While attending college, Mackenzie acquired a job at a national CPA firm where she began her career providing tax preparation and auditing services for clients in the medical, construction and real
estate industries.
After a few years in the public accounting sector, Mackenzie transitioned to Werner Electric Supply in the Fox Valley as their Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis. Where she worked for nearly six years and focused primarily on supporting the company’s financial health through planning, budgeting, forecasting and reporting.
Kenzi eventually joined the team at Edge and has settled in extremely well (as she had previously worked with Tom Whalen, CPA, AJ Rheinschmidt, CPA, Jake Schnese, CPA and is married to Adam Hughes, CPA). She looks forward to leveraging her skill set to be an asset to her clients. Her attention to detail and technical aptitude were a natural fit for her role.
Working with the Edge family was the obvious career / family first move for Kenzi. It allows her to help small businesses grow and succeed with the hands-on approach that Edge focuses, while incorporating some of beneficial processes that big corporate world accounting and tax firms implement.
Outside of work, Mackenzie and her husband, Adam enjoy making memories with their energetic, young daughter, Arabella. Mackenzie also enjoys staying active by playing softball and attending work-out classes at her local gym. She also finds a strong sense of purpose by volunteering at VIDA, a community non-profit, as well as in the children’s ministry at their church.
